It’s going to take a major cultural change to get more women into the games industry from a development point of view. The blokey, macho, crap needs to be weeded out.. It makes it a very unfriendly and sometimes quite hostile environment not only to women but also gay men.
It’s only really been lip service so far in terms of attracting women to the industry.. Events like this, and the women’s lunch at the previous AGDC conferences – but until they can create a more well rounded working environment (and I don’t mean just more women in the workplace – but rather more respect for women in general) things will stay the way they are.
