Motus Games have recently revealed a motion sensing, pull-a-part controller, dubbed as the ‘Darwin’ for Microsoft’s XBOX 360. The controller has the ability to divide in half allowing for players to select from three different control methods. The first two ways of operating the Darwin are by using either one or two hands, and the third option is the multiplayer alternative, which involves two players taking one half each of the device.

The developer Motus made the following statement about the new controller:

‘Darwin uses a number of sensors that allow it to know where it is (kind of like a personal GPS, but using a different kind of technology) It is self-contained, meaning what you hold is all you need, no IR strips or other devices for a reference point.’

The obvious shot was taken at the Wii within this statement, but that clearly was not enough for Motus, as the company’s site continues to target the Wii. The site has the basic information of how the Darwin functions and then goes on to lower the Wii, claiming the Wii Remote lacks precision.

At this point in time it is unknown as to whether or not the Darwin is a first or third party creation, however, it is rumoured that at Microsoft’s E3 keynote conference on Monday the 14th of July, all will be revealed in relation to the XBOX 360 and motion-sensing controllers.
