The latest firmware for the Wii (4.0) has been released. Major changes are to the Wii menu, as there is now a separate SD Card menu where you can load any Virtual Console, WiiWare or Wii Channel without having to first copy it to the Wii. Now you also have the option to choose to download titles directly to the SD Card, the SD Card menu being able to hold 240 games.
Also, Nintendo have added SDHC support for a max capacity of 32G SD Cards. The Wii HD storage problem has been solved.
