sims3I just have to start off and say that due to the fact we are not real journalists, we forgot to bring a camera to this event!

So tonight Maxi and I attended the Sims 3 Launch Party at the Crystal Palace at Luna Park. However, it was quite different from a regular game launch. In fact, there was very little to do with the game itself, it was mainly a fashion show!

This wasn’t too bad. While The Sims games are fun, I was never the biggest fan, and I must confess, I got addicted to Make Me A Supermodel last year so all went well.

Jessica Mauboy performed while different models strutted their stuff. Most of the models seemed very relaxed, mucked about and had a great time, which I think is always better for the audience.

There was even audience participation with four girls strutting their stuff on the catwalk and the eventual winner getting to actually model an outfit for the show.

At the end the after party started where DJs were playing and people could spend some time with the game. However due to the large number of people there and small number of games available, I don’t think everyone got in as much playtime as they might have wanted. Least of all us. In fact, we just watched other people muck around on the games.

But from what we saw, the game has some great graphics, and it has a lot (and I mean A LOT!) of ways to customise your Sim, so it can keep you entertained even if you don’t want to download extra clothing packs.

There seems to be just as much in the way of building materials. Your imagination really is the only thing that will limit you in this game.

We also got goody bags, which is something that everyone loves! The bags included a Sims Promo DVD, a Samsung Lanyard, 2 Samsung inflatable tubes (I wonder if Samsung were sponsoring the event), chocolates (which are always good), a copy of Dolly (riveting reading for me), a sample of eye moisturiser (essential for the modern metrosexual) and a container of hair wax.

All in all it was a fun night and it was interesting being so different to the typical game related event.
