Miyamoto said that the Wii represented a “continuous evolution” and went on to say that it would not have been “technically feasible” for them to release Wii MotionPlus at the console’s launch. However, due to technological advancements in the field of “microelectro-mechanical systems” (ooh, sounds fancy) Nintendo are now able to provide gamers with the enhanced motion-sensing capabilities of the new peripheral at a low size—and a low cost.
