darklordThe Hanabi festival continues this week, with three new games available in the Wii Shop Channel.

Virtual Console

Smash Table Tennis (600 points)
There’s something about Nintendo releasing these old sports games that I simply don’t get. This seems extra true when dealing with the release of an antiquated NES table-tennis game on a console capable of motion-sensing controls. Why would anyone spend 600 points on this? Only table-tennis fanatics need apply.

Musha (900 points)
It’s just not a worthwhile week on the Virtual Console without some sort of scrolling shooter to add to your collection. This one scrolls… (wait for it) vertically! Basically, you pilot some sort of futuristic armor and shoot a lot of stuff.

Musha was originally available for the Sega Mega Drive and was produced by a company called Compile, who are renowned for creating some of the best shooters ever made. Compile are also the company behind the original Puyo Puyo game—one of the most influental puzzle games since Tetris.

WiiWare

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Darklord (1000 points)
You might think that a game called “My Life as a Darklord” would involve playing as a Darklord. But in this case, you’d be wrong. Instead, the latest addition to the Crystal Chronicles franchise is a tower defense game that has you assume the mantle of the Darklord’s daughter as she attempts to protect her father’s tower from foolhardy adventurers by placing a variety of traps and monsters. It actually looks kind of fun.

That’s it for this week. If you end up downloading any of these titles, be sure to leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
