Sega has unveiled a brand new instalment in the Sonic the Hedgehog series for download via WiiWare.
Previously teased as Project Needlemouse, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is promising to deliver the traditional 2D side-scrolling that fans have been waiting for ever since Sonic entered the 3rd dimension.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 looks set to provide familiar gameplay to fans of the series, with the return of classic moves such as the Spin Dash and Homing Attack. Fans can also look forward to playing through a variety of Zones, all inspired by the original 2D Sonic games.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is currently slated for release in Winter 2010 and will be available through WiiWare.

Oh, it’s an exclusive WiiWare release? I assumed it’d be popping up on all the consoles. Good to know!
It will also be on XBLA and PSN Cody, WiiWare is all we’re talking about here as it’s a Nintendo site!
Thanks for dropping by also.
I was honestly excited about this game until I found out it was going to be released in episodes.
I believe it’s available on WiiWare, Xbox and PSN. And it’s not confirmed yet if it’ll be on iPhone as well. This is a huge news to all the kids of the 90s who grew up with this game. I just hope Sega didn’t screw it up this time!
