God Hand, a cult hit released on PlayStation 2 and developed by the now-defunct Clover Studios, may soon be finding its way to the Nintendo Wii.
Atsushi Inaba, the producer of the original game and the current Executive Director and Producer of Platinum Games, announced the plan recently.
A spokesperson speaking on behalf of Inaba-san said, ‘We’ve seen how well games such as Okami and Biohazard 4 have done after being remade with new hardware. We now live in an age where games that maybe weren’t fully appreciated upon initial release, have found success upon re-release’.
‘Fans loved God Hand. Critics loved God Hand. For some reason though, that didn’t translate into sales. Now, gamers are crying out for hardcore games on the Wii, and God Hand is as hardcore as it gets. Bayonetta, which was like a spiritual successor to God Hand, was a huge success. The timing just feels right to give it another go.’
However, the project may depend on sales of Platinum’s other recent titles.
‘Platinum Games is not a very big development house in the grand scheme of things,’ Inaba-san’s spokesperson said.
‘The studio’s latest game is Infinite Space for Nintendo DS, which took a lot of time and money to make. If that game doesn’t sell many copies, the God Hand remake would be in trouble.’
But did they choose to remake it on Wii just to cut development costs?
‘Inaba and (Shinji) Mikami (director of the original game and current Platinum Games employee) see a lot of potential with the Wii control scheme’, the spokesperson went on to say. ‘MadWorld is a very similar game in many ways to God Hand, and after making that game they have a very good idea of how to make God Hand work with the Wii controller’.
So, will it be a straight port or a complete overhaul?
‘The game will contain the style and quirkiness that made the original so revered among fans and critics, and that includes the graphical style’ he said.
‘However, people within Platinum Games have suggested adding new levels, new content and so on, so you’ll have to wait and see.’

You can tell that the guy on the right is really excited about this news.

I hated God Hand. I’m indifferent to this news.
And I’m now also having doubts about this news post’s integrity.
Haha, April Fools!
