Nintendo’s current generation of hardware can now be called their most successful ever. According to Nintendo’s latest financial statements the DS sold 27.11m units in the fiscal year ended 31st March 2010, making for an overall total of 128.89m. This finally puts it well ahead of the Gameboys lifetime sales, which reached 118.69m.

In a similar fashion, the Wii has overtaken the NES in sales. Previously the NES was Nintendo’s highest selling home console. The Wii sold 20.53m units in the last fiscal year, bringing it’s lifetime total up to 70.93m. The NES managed to reach 61.91m.
