Recently, I had the chance to chat with some local gamers and ask them a few questions about what they were expecting from Nintendo’s press conference at this year’s E3.

Too busy with real life.

kksl1der: So do you think Nintendo will pull out their big franchises at this year’s E3?

BB2K: I really have no idea. I haven’t been following the lead up to this year’s E3 at all. More important stuff for me is going on in real life at the moment.

kksl1der: Okay, well do you want to take a guess?

BB2K: Hopefully Pikmin 3. I’m pretty sure we will see some new Zelda stuff too.

kksl1der: So how will you be if Nintendo announces a title like Animal Crossing Wii again?

BB2K: I would say something along the lines of ‘classic Nintendo’.

kksl1der: Anything else you would like to say in relation to Nintendo and this year’s E3?

BB2K: To be honest, I’ve really given up on Nintendo as a developer.

kksl1der: Oh, now you tell me.

BB2K: Hey, the truth hurts.

kksl1der: Thanks for your time today.

BB2K: That’s alright I suppose.

kksl1der: Jackass.

The red Pikmin is waving to a naked man in the distance.

Likes the Vitality Sensor.

kksl1der: What are you most looking forward to about Nintendo’s E3 press conference this year?

Angus: A reasonably good night’s sleep.

kksl1der: Do you think Nintendo has any surprises in store for us Nintendo fans this year?

Angus: Surprises? No. Fulfilling of expectations? Maybe.

kksl1der: Wii Music again?

Angus: No doubt we’ll see some ridiculously boring casual shit.

kksl1der: Of course.

Angus: Lawl, Vitality Sensor.

kksl1der: Maybe they’ve got some hardcore plans for the Vitality Sensor?

Angus: Hook it up to the audience and have a meter of just how f****** bored and angry they all get.

kksl1der: Haha, nice idea and thanks for the chat.

Angus: Not a problem.

The vitality sensor will kill you five times before you hit the ground.

Thinks Nintendo is for casuals.

kksl1der: So what do you think Nintendo will announce at this year’s E3?

Akavashi: Downloadable content for its new Mario games.

kksl1der: Come on man, think a bit more for me.

Akavashi: No, I’m being serious… it wouldn’t surprise me if Nintendo start releasing DLC for their overly milked products. And yeah, they will target the casual audience by extending their favourite casual games with DLC.

And in another 6 months, you’ll find that EA and Nintendo were one big corporation after all.

kksl1der: Would the casual audience even know what DLC is though?

Akavashi: Well, if you count the millions of additions to the Peggle series as DLC then yeah.

kksl1der: How would you react if Nintendo were to announce another new Mario platformer?

Akavashi: What do you think they’ll announce? You’re the resident fanboy after all.

kksl1der: Hey, focus damn it.

Akavashi: Honestly, I would react with “meh” and then consider Nintendo an uncreative pile of shit.

kksl1der: I see.

Akavashi: Seriously though… follow the timeline of the Mario series… it started off in black and white, as a platformer… then went to multiple characters… colour… 3D… back to multiple characters… then platformer… and I wouldn’t be surprised if they went back to black and white, it’s the exact shape of a bell curve. In my opinion, the era of Mario is leaving soon. If I had l33t photo shopping skills I would draw an info graphic on the damn subject.

kksl1der: Thanks for your opinions…

Akavashi: Are you going to use this material against me?

kksl1der: Nah, much worse.

Mario started off in black and white? What? Fffuuu...

Hoping for Wii Music 2.

kksl1der: So what excites you most about Nintendo’s upcoming E3 press conference this year?

punkgorilla: Should be interesting to hear about Zelda Wii. I’m also curious about the 3DS and how that’s going to work.

kksl1der: If I have two shigsy and then another two shigsy walk over to the two shigsy I already have, how many shigsy do I have in total?

punkgorilla: Far too many to be healthy.

kksl1der: Okay, now be honest with me on this one. Are you going to watch any of the E3 press conferences this year, and if so, which one are you most excited about?

punkgorilla: Haha, I won’t be watching any. I’d rather just read up on the highlights.

kksl1der: And which site will you be reading the E3 highlights on?

punkgorilla: I almost feel dirty for saying this, but probably IGN. Yeah, I guess that makes me a hypocrit.

kksl1der: Urgh, you’re meant to say TNB. You’re almost as bad as some Xbox fanboy I once interviewed.

punkgorilla: TNB? Oh right, I know that site.

kksl1der: Damn right. Anything else you’d like to say in relation to Nintendo’s upcoming press conference at this year’s E3?

punkgorilla: I’m really hoping Nintendo surprise me on this one. I mean usually I get all excited about the potential of their showings at E3 only to leave feeling mildly disappointed. I’d really like this year to be different.

kksl1der: So you’re hoping for a Wii Music 2 announcement hey?

punkgorilla: Ha! Actually, if they make it the sort of game it should’ve been the first time around, I would be pretty happy with that.

kksl1der: Okay, well on that note I think we’ll end it there. Thank you for your time.

Shigsy and Wii Music. Does it get any better?

A huge thanks to all of the people who helped contribute to this article. Stay tuned to The Nintendo Basement over the next few days for our coverage of this year’s E3 and Nintendo’s E3 press conference.
