Nintendo’s latest financial results for the period April-June 2010 have revealed that the company has lost money. Nintendo recorded a net loss of 25.2 billion yen, with net sales down 25.6% to 188.6 billion yen.
The loss of money is attributed to poor performing DS sales with DS hardware sales down 44.7% year on year to 3.15 million, while DS software sales dropped 22.9% to 22.42 million. Wii hardware sales were up 36.6% reaching 3.04 million, however Wii software sales fell 9.3% to 28.17 million.
The biggest selling games were the period are as follows:
Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 4 million
Wii Sports Resort – 3 million
Wii Sports – 2.7 million
Wii Fit Plus – 1.8 million
Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver – 1.7 million
New Super Mario Bros. Wii – 1.1 million
Nintendo also announced today that they will be revealing the release period and price point for the Nintendo 3DS on September 29.

The marketing for the 3DS is excellent. I think Nintendo have just been hit by the recession like the rest of us.
