This move is no doubt due to the release of the Nintendo DSiXL which will be in stores from today, April 15 2010. The DSiXL features two larger screens and an improved battery life. The DSiXL will be available in two colours: Burgandy and Bronze. It will also come with bonus pre-installed software. Beyond this, all hardware is identical to the regular DSi.

Nintendo Announces 3DS

Nintendo has announced plans to unveil a new handheld, given the temporary name of Nintendo 3DS. The announcement appeared on Nintendo’s Japanese website.

The new handheld will allow players to experience ‘3D effects without the need for any special glasses’. The 3DS also promises backwards compatibility with DS and DSi titles.

More details will be announced at E3, so we’ll have to wait until June 15 for more information.
