1stloveplusA Japanese man calling himself Sal9000 need not be lonely anymore, after wedding a character from a Nintendo DS game.

Sal met “school-teacher” Nina Anegasaki in Girl’s Side 1st Love Plus, the latest iteration of the popular Tokimeki Memorial series of dating simulators. The titles are renowned for their non-linear gameplay that lets players meet virtual girls, take them on dates and even… touch them.

The wedding ceremony took place on November 22nd and was webcast by Nico Nico Douga, a popular Japanese video sharing site. A “real” priest presided over the event, which was held at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Newest Pokémon title sells like crazy in Japan

Category: DS News

heartgoldsoulsilverAccording to reports from retailers, the two latest versions of Pokémon (HeartGold and SoulSilver) sold almost 1.5 million units in Japan during only the first two days of release.

HeartGold and SoulSilver are enhanced remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver, which were originally released for the Game Boy Colour back in 1999. The games allow players to capture a range of “older” species of Pokémon that were previously unavailable in the newer games belonging to the series.

Changes made to the original versions include plenty of audiovisual enhancements, as well as utilising the DS touch-pad during gameplay. Australian gamers won’t be able to get their hands on HeartGold or SoulSilver just yet, however, with no English release of the title expected before 2010.
