Chances are that you’ve never heard of shamantis before, who rose briefly to internet infamy in 2010 for slowing down Justin Bieber’s track “U Smile” by 800% and instantly rendering it an ambient masterpiece.

“How is that possibly relevant to Nintendo?” I hear you ask. Well as it happens, shamantis (or Nick Pittsinger if you read his twitter info) is the latest member to join Pokémon Reorchestrated–a project dedicated to creating lush new electronic versions of classic Pokémon game music.

Inspired by a similar project, Zelda Reorchestrated, the team are currently working on music from the first generation of Pokemon titles, but have ambitious plans to cover as much music from the iconic monster-battling series as possible.

Check out the Pokémon Reorchestrated website to download the tracks for free and wistfully reminisce about all those hours you’ve spent lurking in the long grass.

Nintendo Records Loss In Latest Financials

Nintendo’s latest financial results for the period April-June 2010 have revealed that the company has lost money. Nintendo recorded a net loss of 25.2 billion yen, with net sales down 25.6% to 188.6 billion yen.
