I’m going to be honest with you, going into Activision, this was the game I was least looking forward to playing. Golf to me is an extremely boring sport, and playing golf games isn’t really much better. Despite going in with these low expectations, I actually ended up quite enjoying this game.
The game is being developed by Camelot Software, which should be familiar to anyone who has played the Mario Golf series. The controls utilise the Wii-mote as the club. Hold down the B trigger to practice a swing, and the A button will go for a real swing. Like Wii Sports golf, you pull back to bring the club back, but to hit the ball, you wait until the cursor moves back to the start of the bar before swinging down. It’s a bit awkward at first, but after a while it becomes incredibly fun and provides a more rewarding experience than the Wii Sports version.
I played Wii Sports golf when I got home to see how We Love Golf would stack up, and it is a much better game overall. Of course, you can’t use your Mii, but there are a handful of characters to choose from, with changeable costumes. You can unlock more including some classic Capcom characters and Capcom costumes for other characters. We played by taking turns at each hole, but the real fun would come about from playing multi with a group of mates using different characters. It would be a great game for drinking and talking trash!
The game is also extremely cute. The colours are bright and vibrant and it really adds some charm to the game. It’s easy enough to get into, but if you put the time in, you can muck around with topspin and backspin, as well as fade and draw.
So all in all, the game looks like it will be a fun golf experience for the whole family!
Although hidden away from its final address, the Australian Club Nintendo website has gone live (and it looks pretty awesome).
With Mario Kart releasing in Oz tomorrow, the website, for now, consists of one page with a registration form, where you’ll need your code from Mario Kart Wii and eventually Wii Fit to join the club. Other games will also have their own codes soon.
Club Nintendo lets you choose “premium items” from the Stars Catalogue in exchange for Stars awarded to you through product registration. Web address + more info inside.

In a recent interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, other than self-promotion, (and talking about Wii Fit and games that cater for everyone) he hinted the return of Zelda, or possible a brand new I.P. from the Zelda Team.

Expected to be coming later this year (around July), a Paper Mario game has been confirmed for the DS in CoroCoro Magazine recently.
The actual firm details in the magazine were a bit sketchy, but they did mention that the game will be a direct port of Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64, and an expected release. (above)
It does seem more than a bit strange for Nintendo to be releasing a port of a game that can be bought on the Wii’s Virtual Console, but there is no doubting a handheld Paper Mario game will be brilliant.
Let’s just hope for now it doesn’t suffer the same delays it’s Wii counterpart did…
Over in the world of money and dreams, it seems the US ratings board, the ESRB, have pretty much confirmed a new DS Castlevania game recently. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia was rated T for Teen for blood and fantasy violence, and should see release in the US soon. Castlevania developer Konami has yet to officially confirm the game’s existence, but a formal announcement is expected soon.

First up, there is news of Mario Kart Wii selling 300,000 copies on its first day on sale in Japan. That makes up for 3/4 of all copies in stock.
Anything with the even the slightest hint of ‘Mario’ in it seems to sell like crazy over there, proving no other country is like them when it comes to games.
Mario Kart Wii will be coming out on the 24th of April in Australia, but a you’ll be able to win a copy on the site very soon, so you may want to hold off buying straight away!
Details of how to win coming soon. More news inside.

Last week we announced news of Microsoft (in conjunction with Rare) working to create a motion controller for the Xbox 360, with very similar functions to the Wii-mote. Their reasons for doing this seemed quite obvious, backing on to reports of dwindling Xbox 360 sales coming from sales reports all around the world.
