DO NOT UPDATE YOUR WII!!
So the latest WIi update kills the Freeloader.
Which is horrid news for all of us who have been importing our games so we don’t have to put up with the awful delays we get here in Australia.
Fortunately, for the time being, we can ignore this update, which I’ve done and play our imported games like Super Smash Bros Brawl without any issues. The problem that will arise however is when Nintendo force an update through software.
Personally I’m quite angry about this as I have bought legitimate Nintendo products and now am being screwed due to not wanting to wait for the ridiculous delays and over inflated prices we pay here.
I have sent an email to Codejunkies who make the Freeloader to see their advice. Their response is inside.
Dear Quatters,
Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the compatibility of our Freeloader product with the new Wii firmware (v3.3). Unfortunately, it does seem that either inadvertently or by design this firmware update from Nintendo does prevent our Freeloader from working. This is clearly something we are very disappointed about but have no control over.
As per the instructions included on our website and with every Freeloader, we recommend that you do not install this update if you wish to carry on using your Freeloader to play import games, this includes not installing any firmware update included with new Wii software titles. Instructions on how to use the Freeloader to prevent firmware updates from being installed are included with your Freeloader.
At this early stage we are not sure when, if ever, we will be able to release a new version of Freeloader that will run on consoles that have been updated with this firmware so again we would recommend that if you want to continue using your Freeloader you do not upgrade your firmware.
No refund is or exchange is available (outside of the terms and conditions of the returns policy offered by your point of purchase) since the Freeloader continues to be fully compatible with Wii firmware 3.2 and below.
Best regards,
So in conclusion. DON’T UPDATE YOUR WII!
