Wii storage space becomes mainstream issue
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, in a recent interview with Stephen Totilo from MTV multiplayer, has addressed the issues of limited storage space on the Wii and how it has become a mainstream problem.
The one and only Regginator made the following comments in relation to the Wii’s limited storage space:
‘We have said publicly that we’re looking hard at the storage situation, that we’re working on a range of solutions. We have nothing to announce now. But certainly it’s an issue we are aware of and we’re working to find a solution and we will.”
Reggie continued on by stating two reasons as to why storage space on the Wii has become a mainstream problem. The first was due to the consumer bases that “love” the Virtual Console and are “enjoying” WiiWare. It is known that the popularity of this content has left many Wii owners with very little storage space. The second and final reason is the downloadable content and channel add-ons, such as the Mario Kart Channel. These are only adding to this lack of space on the Wii and, therefore, increasing a problem that needs to be solved.
In summary, it seems Nintendo have finally woken up to the lack of storage space on the Wii. Nintendo have now finally realised that it is not just a ‘hardcore’ gamer problem, and as they release new downloadable content for the Wii, more and more owners are chewing up their precious blocks of memory.
