Even though still technically a “rumour”, Nintendo is bringing more Nintendo DS Lite Colours to Australian shores. Thanks to our friends in retail, we’ve just been informed that the Crimson/Onyx split coloured DS Lite which was originally included in a bundle in North America with More Brain Training and a Cobalt/Black DS Lite have been added to local retailers release schedule.

Japan Post has given away prizes to celebrate the new year, including an incredibly awesome red DS Lite. However, chances of getting one of these babies was 250, 000 to 1, so many of them are up for auction on Yahoo! Auctions, and the average price is around 40, 000 Yen, which translates to roughly $400.
Is it worth that much? I’m not too sure, but if Nintendo officially released this as a new DS colour, I’d be sure to snap one up.
The predictions of industry analysts might not always turn out to be true, but they’re nonetheless interesting, most would agree, especially cases like this one: Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson believes Nintendo has already completed work on a Nintendo DS Lite successor. That is, a redesign.
“Our contacts indicate that a refreshed DS is complete,” Wilson said. “It is thinner (it has no GBA port), has on-board storage and larger screens. However, we do not expect a revamped Wii or DS until sales begin to tail off in all three major geographies.”
Nintendo has yet to comment.

Typically, Nintendo’s home consoles have endured roughly a five-year lifecycle, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata explained at the company’s recent Q3 financial results conference, while its handhelds have lasted “a little less.” So does this mean that the DS successor is nearing?
But Iwata said, “I’m quite doubtful that such a notion of platform cycles can be applied in the future…As we continue our research and study for new hardware, when we will be able to launch a new kind of hardware will actually depend on when we can change entertainment completely, and so have a strong impact on people around the world. Or, there will certainly be a time when we have to say that we have done everything possible with the current machine, that we can never propose anything new.”

This time around it’s news from one of the songs from the game, “Ashley’s Theme”, from WarioWare Touched. Listen to it here. Quite a quirky song, honestly I don’t see it fitting a Brawl battle. An intro maybe?
In other news, Kirby’s “Final Smash” move has been revealed, where we enter Kirby’s kitchen and cook up the opposition - literally! Kirby goes all supernatural, puts on a chef’s hat, and then throw’s his opponents into his cauldron. When they’re done cookin’, he tosses ‘em back out! It almost looks like, even though not officially mentioned, that he receives items after doing this, like an invincibility star, and some other Smash Bros. items I forget the names of. (bottom screen) An interesting move no doubt. (screens inside)
