Mario Kart Wii news round-up
First up, there is news of Mario Kart Wii selling 300,000 copies on its first day on sale in Japan. That makes up for 3/4 of all copies in stock.
Anything with the even the slightest hint of ‘Mario’ in it seems to sell like crazy over there, proving no other country is like them when it comes to games.
Mario Kart Wii will be coming out on the 24th of April in Australia, but a you’ll be able to win a copy on the site very soon, so you may want to hold off buying straight away!
Details of how to win coming soon. More news inside.
Next up, is news already of online cheaters in Mario Kart Wii. What the cheaters are doing has to do with the Time Trials in particular, where the user can complete one lap of a timed course, and after finishing the first lap, turn around to face the finish line and quit.
Somehow then, the time will be saved, and ridiculous times are added to the user’s profile. However, it seems Nintendo has already clamped down hard on the issue by deleting obviously faked records and allegedly blocking it from happening again. If fixed it’s a win for Nintendo, but obviously a patching system would come in handy at this point.
And finally, a bit of pricing news, in particular the pricing of single Wii Wheels.
In Australia, they will retail for $20, which could be viewed as a bit pricey for a piece of plastic. Let’s hope that they add to the overall experience enough to warrant a purchase.
