Carnival Games

 (Wii)

Ah, sweet memories. The carnival comes to town with all its sounds, lights and fun to be had for all. While avoiding the clowns, the only thing to do would be to pull out the old change purse and try your luck at the various games on offer. Well, those memories are back in virtual form with Carnival Games on the Wii.
Carnival Games by 2K Play brings a whole new spin to the types of mini game genres available to date on the Wii. It mixes mini games with, you guessed it, the theme of a carnival, and creates one tantalising mix of innovation and nostalgia, this either creating a recipe for success or disaster. Thankfully, CG proves successful, and will definitely take a proud place in any games collection.
“But Carnivals have prizes!” I hear you ask, and yes, you’re right - a carnival isn’t a carnival without prizes. Well, Carnival Games features its very own Prize Boulevard to claim many virtual prizes to pimp out your in-game character. With over 25 games to choose from to play with up to four others, there is much fun to be had by all ages. All of the games are well known classics, for example Day At The Races, Balloon Darts, Ring Toss, Dunk Tank, Test Your Strength and many, many more.
The mini games all control quite well also. Sometimes the accuracy is a little off but that almost adds to the façade of it being a real carnival.
In the sound department, this game delivers perfectly. The carnival themes are spot on, but can get a little repetitive after each game.
To summarise, if there was a placeholder for each type of possible “minigame game” on the Wii to date, Carnival Games fits its spot perfectly. It rolls fun, nostalgia and new ideas into one big package – how can you go wrong?
